Last night, Mike and I attended shewhodaydreams' 21st birthday party in Mountain View (in the South Bay area). T'was good times, for sure! :) I got to introduce Mike to some friends (such as Philly herself, her parents, mokat and her husband), and meet some new people myself, too (most of whom I seemed to have a lot in common with).

Great people, yummy food, and dancing dorkily with the man you love... what more could you ask? ;)

Hope you had a blast, Ms. Philly.

* Mike's mom is taking me out (with Mike, of course) tonight for my birthday.

* Mike and I are going to San Francisco next weekend as our celebration.

* My mom and I are going out on my actual birthday (next Monday, the 11th), to see "Happy Feet" and eat at the Hard Rock Cafe' downtown. :)

The casting letter arrived Friday, but I was in the Bay Area with Mike until now, so I'm telling you now. ;-) I'm in 18 (I believe) numbers this year, which is about what I'm usually in; however, this year...

I have a solo!

woo hoo! :-) It's what's called an "incidental solo," which means it's a small part -- probably like a sentence or so; I'll know for sure this Saturday, when rehearsals begin. The song is called Welcome Home, but I don't know anything else about it yet (like what show it's from, the words, etc). *UPDATE: it's from Martin Guerre, and, it's a period piece!! YESSS!!! SCORE!! I was just saying to Mike that I hoped it was one of our peasant-type group numbers from a period piece. Yay!! :-D

Dave (the director) tends to give incidentals when he wants to find out how you handle solo singing -- rather than handing you an entire song without knowing you can handle it. Mom and I were actually hoping I'd get an incidental, because, honestly, carrying an entire song at this point is a tad scary. I wouldn't want to be the reason the show didn't do well. ;-) Once I handle this, then I'd be willing to take that risk, and hopefully, so will Dave... lol.

The bonus would be getting a mention in the newspaper review -- we shall see about that.

Thanks also to my friends and relatives who sent cards, emails, and MySpace messages, I appreciate it greatly. You made my birthday great.

By the way, a while back, when I did that Holiday Wishes thing, that somewhat cryptic wish that said "For people on LiveJournal to do something they've never done..." (or something like that) -- mention my birthday was that thing. No one on LiveJournal had ever posted mention of my birthday before in their journal. So, thank you for making that wish come true. :-D
